And at number 3, you have chosen former captain Richard Dunne.

Richard Dunne
Dunne signed for Manchester City in the year 2000 for a fee of £3 million. He played in centre back for City and made a massive 296 appearences during his 9 year spell at City.

In his first season, City were relegated to the first division and there was a change in management. In his first season, he had many partners in the centre of defence including Steve Howey and Andy Morrison. Kevin Keegan took charge of City during Dunne's second season.
Dunne recieved a club suspension in 2003 due to disciplinary problems and this brought speculation about a move away from The Citizens. However, due to immense effort from Dunne, he was called up to the Ireland team.

Dunne recieved the clubs Player of the Year for the 2004-05 campaign, which he recieved 4 times during his City career - a club record. Dunne was then rewarded further for his efforts and was given captaincy during the 2006 campaign at the age of 26.
During January 2007, Micah Richards praised Richard Dune, saying he was up with the best defenders, such as John Terry and Rio Ferdinand.

On 4th July 2008, Dunne recieved a new 4 year contract from Manchester City.

During the 2008/09 season, Dunne made 47 starts for the Blues and picked up 3 red cards. On his 29th birthday, Dunne scored in the 6-0 demolition of Portsmouth. Dunne then equalled the record for most Premier League red cards in January 2009. This was only matched by Patrick Vieira and Duncan Ferguson.

Due to the purchase of Kolo TourĂ© and Joleon Lecott, speculation surrounded Dunne about his Manchester City future. Dunne then left City to join Aston Villa on the 2nd of September 2009 for a fee of £5 million.

So, that's Richard Dunne. Dunne is a highly regarded player at Manchester City and 4 player of the years is an epic achievement, he defiantly deserves a place in our cult heroes list.
